Scottish Vocational Qualifications

Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQs) are an excellent way of developing your team. The qualifications are designed to be work based and give candidates credit for the skills they already have or are progressing towards.

SVQs are available at Levels 2 and 3 in all Hospitality occupational areas - Food and Beverage Service, Professional Cookery; Front Office; Housekeeping; Kitchen Services; Hospitality Supervision.

Management VQ Level 3, 4 and 5 are nationally accredited awards recognised by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) in partnership with MSC and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). These are appropriate for Heads of Department or Managerial Staff, up to Strategic Managers.

Customer Service Level 2 and 3 will help your team members understand the importance of Customer Service Delivery.  The journey your customer has within your organisation is very much dependent on the people who are in front of the customer and how they deal with situations.  Going the ‘Extra Mile’ is encouraged throughout the Vocational Qualifications and encourages people to stop and think about what they are doing and what the results of their actions will be.

The SVQ is aimed at individuals with more a personal responsibility and autonomy in their management role. The SVQ will give them the opportunity to demonstrate recognisable management and leadership skills, for example, managing business processes, developing and implementing operational plans, leading, planning and implementing change, managing finance, providing learning opportunities. Individuals may find that the focus of their work is more to do with managing projects or with technical matters, than with people.

Candidates can start anytime and work at their own pace.
